Marketing has undergone a lot of changes over the years. However, no changes have been as marked in recent times as the transition to digital marketing in the last decade. Traditional marketing has many tried and tested techniques but the advent of the internet and increased connectivity now allow for a much more targeted and cost-efficient form of marketing to replace it. Digital marketing is the way forward for all businesses irrespective of size or geography.

For the smartphone-dependent world, are you on the same wavelength as your customers?

This may not come to you as something new but traditional marketing is no longer enough to market your business in this era. We cannot deny the fact that the world is spontaneously shifting their Marketing strategies from traditional to online marketing! Most retail store owners fail to acknowledge the importance of online.

Here are the reasons for the transition from offline to online marketing:

  • Positioning your brand or business at high levels through offline marketing is time consuming.
  • Finding the relevant audience is never easy!
  • Advertising on billboards, radio, TV etc. is more expensive in comparison to the online marketing of the same business.

So what makes online or digital marketing different?

Well, the digital method of communication and marketing is faster. Targeting people couldn’t get any simpler with the use of demographics with which people located poles apart speaking different languages of different age group and interests can be targeted with just a click of a button. Last but not the least, digital marketing is definitely more affordable than traditional offline marketing methods.

But one of the main benefits of conducting your marketing digitally is the ease with which results can be tracked and monitored. Instead of conducting expensive customer research, you can quickly view customer response rates and measure the success of your marketing campaign in real-time, enabling you to plan better for the next one.

You cannot just stop at being a good listener though. No matter how well-known your brand is  or how appealing the logo is, without proper marketing, your brand will cease to exist. So what can you do to prevent that from happening?

Adopt the latest technologies.

Let’s move forward! Here’s what you need to know about online marketing & it’s presence!

The internet is everywhere. From learning about the origins of life to exploring the Universe with Google Sky, Internet has made the word impossible seem extinct. It has opened a path for businesses filled with tremendous opportunities in digital marketing.

Let us now take a look and understand what exactly is digital marketing and how it can be useful for businesses.

What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing is a new trend. Basically, it’s a collective term which is used where marketing meets internet technology and other forms of new media like social media marketing (SMM), Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Content Marketing, website design, Google Adwords and many more.

As per research, “marketing” & “advertising” are two different terms in this modern era where businesses can communicate with their potential and existing clients. It can be done via different channels of online marketing, where businesses can acquire more clients by sharing their product or service online and enticing them to boost their ROI.

So these channels that we spoke of , these are as follows:

  1. Website / App development
  2. Social Media Marketing
  3. Google Adwords
  4. Mobile/SMS Marketing

Let’s go over these in brief.

1. Website / app development: A website is an entity that helps a retail store with low-budget advertising, improved visibility, and a 24x7 accessibility for your clients to stay updated with your product offerings as per their time convenience. It is surprising that even to this day many well-known companies don't have a website.

2. Social media marketing - I
t is the second most important channel of Digital Marketing. It incorporates the marketing strategies that use social media channels as the marketing tools to optimise the visibility of a brand, increase conversions and returns, target relevant audience and so forth.

3. Google Adwords: It’s a pay-per-click service that enables you in bringing huge traffic through the use of proper keywords, produce and run advertisements for your business effectively. Google Adwords being faster than SEO makes it one among the powerful marketing solutions for digital marketers. They can make a company more successful in only a short span of time if implemented correctly.

4 Mobile/SMS marketing: Is SMS still relevant? In this digital era, we are living in a world where every child has and/or is growing up around smartphones & tablets and gradually embracing the whole new world with digital consumption. Now, coming back to the question. Is SMS still relevant? Yes, certainly and we will prove it to you with numbers. Research shows that by the end of 2013, 7 trillion text messages were sent worldwide. The numbers increase overtime, bringing the total to 7.9 billion, soon predicted to rise to 9.8 billion by 2023. At the very least, these figures show that SMS is another channel many marketers are beginning to explore.

The bottom line is, the digital age is here, and those businesses that fail to adapt to the new marketing techniques are at great risk of going extinct sooner rather than later.
